Wax Resist

Sort & Filter

Wax resist in pottery is a wax coating that prevents glaze from sticking to the covered area of bisque or greenware. To use, a potter paints on a design using the wax before glazing the work, and as the kiln is fired the wax dissipates, leaving the painted area glaze-free to show the clay underneath. It can be applied to unglazed greenware or bisque or it can be applied over a previously applied, unfired color.
