High-Fire Clay ∆8-10
SPS high-fire clay bodies are mixed to handle the thermal gauntlet inherent to Cone 10 reduction, wood, or atmospheric firing.
What are high-fire clays best for? High-fire clays offer great strength and versatility. They are harder and more durable than pieces fired to mid-range or low-fire temperatures. High-fire clays are the conventional choice for reduction firing. To take full advantage of the increased strength and durability, high-fire clays should be finished with high-fire glazes. High-fire clay bodies are designed for firing range ∆8 - 10 (2305 - 2345° F)
