- Texture: slightly smooth (< 5% grog)

Sea Mix Speckled - June 2024 Release is a thing of beauty. It is a cheeky union of our Sea Mix 6 clay body and granular manganese and magnetite. It throws and builds with all the qualities you'd expect from Sea Mix 6—but then brings maximum speckling to the party. You know, like confetti.
This premium "slightly buff-bone" color is almost the same as our Sea Mix 6. This clay tightens up early in the firing process. It performs best at Cone 5 with off-gassing possible (pinholes) with thick glaze application and at hotter temp firing—not recommended for Cone 6 or higher.
It performs well as a throwing clay has a smooth, porcelain texture, and is simple and fun to throw and sculpt. It's ideal for wheel throwing, hand building, and functional ware.
We get excellent results with Seattle Pottery Supply glazes.
