Seattle Pottery Supply Raku Glazes

Sort & Filter

Designed specifically for the Raku firing process, our Raku glazes are formulated to take advantage of the stress put on the vessel during firing to produce vibrant visual effects. Incredibly strong, they are able to stay on the clay body through the rigors and temperature fluctuations of a Raku firing.  How many colors are there? They can all be found in a metallic raku surface.

In Raku firing, glazed ceramics are taken from the kiln while they are still glowing red hot and are then placed in a material that will catch fire, such as sawdust or newspaper. This technique is used to starve the piece of oxygen, which creates a myriad of colors within the glaze.
