Want to try a few of our premium clay bodies at once? Don't like commitment? Like to have choice? Our Medium-Fire Clay Sample Flight is for you! A potter's sampling of four of our premium stoneware and porcelain clay bodies, it includes one twelve lb. block each of our Eclipse clay, Klamath Yellow Clay, Seattle Freeze Transluscent Porcelain, and Sea Mix 6 clay. All three fire at cone 5, and give you a nice color selection to play with.

We like all three for throwing, dinnerware, jiggering/jollying, and pressing. The stonewares are also great for handbuilding.

Block weight: 4 samples, each 12 lbs.

FIRING RANGE: CONE 4 - 6 (2167-2232ºF) Best Results at CONE 5

Eclipse: Firing color: dark grey/black; texture: slightly smooth (< 5% grog). This is a lovely, near-black clay that looks amazing with glazes and when marbled

Klamath Yellow: Firing color: red/orange; texture: slightly smooth (< 5% grog). True clay magic, Klamath Yellow is bright banana-yellow when wet, but fires to a deep, rich, orangey-red

Seattle Freeze: Firing color: white, and translucent when thin; texture: buttery smooth. Translucent porcelain in mid-range. Need we say more? But we will, because this porcelain dreamy smooth to work

Sea Mix 6: Firing color in oxidation: off-white; texture: slightly smooth (< 5% grog). Sea Mix 6 is our workhorse favorite clay. Pretty much great for everything, it makes you feel like a pro.

Ships USPS in a Large Flat Rate Box.

*Please be aware that natural impurities may occasionally occur in our clay! Our clays are made with natural minerals, mined from the earth. In some rare cases, natural impurities, or ribbons of other minerals, are mixed in with the raw materials provided by our suppliers. This can lead to clays that don’t perform the way they are supposed to. If you have any questions about a particular clay body, please reach out to info@seattlepotterysupply.com.
