SP29 - Clear, Zinc-free

A zinc-free midrange clear glaze.
SPS glazes are made in small batches in Seattle, WA. Lead free and safe for dinnerware.
Mid-range glazes, such as this, should be used on mid-range clay (meant to be fired to cone 4 - 6).
To apply: Always mix first before each use! Then brush or dip onto bisque-fired pottery (pottery that has been fired to cone 08 - 06).
If brushing, apply three layers, alternating the direction of the brush strokes with each layer to create a smooth finish. Let dry completely between each coat (until it completely loses its sheen), but do not over-dry or the glaze may crawl.
If dipping, dip and hold in the glaze, then remove from the glaze and shake off the excess. The amount of time you hold the piece in the glaze will dictate the thickness of the coat. We recommend 1 dip. A second layer can be applied, but more layers can result in the glaze running off the pot. Let dry until it loses its sheen between each coat if you are adding additional coats.
If the consistency seems thick, first mix thoroughly. If it still seems thick, add water SPARINGLY to thin it down. If too thin, leave the container open to let some of the moisture evaporate.
Note that mixing glazes together or applying one on top of the other may cause the glazes to react differently than you expect. We recommend that you always test a new glaze combination and clay/glaze combination to see how it performs.

I bought a gallon of SP29. Am I able to brush this on or do I have to dip into the gallon? I have some plates that are too big to fit into the bucket so I’d prefer to brush it on if possible.
You can absolutely use this a brushing glaze! It might need a few more layers of brushing it it's pretty thin in your bucket. If it's on the thicker side than it should be okay at 2-3 layers.

What is the ratio for dry glaze to water?
You should use approximately 11oz of water per 1lb of dry material.

Can you buy the wet pint to dip underglazed pendants in it? Or do you have to buy the dry pint? Sorry to ask the question again, I entered the wrong email initially.
You can buy this in either wet or dry. In the drop down menu, you can select either wet or dry, and then the size of the container that you want.
