Peep Hole Plug
Peep hole plugs are useful for peeping inside your kiln, while you are conducting a ceramics kiln firing. Peep hole plugs are considered necessary when working with pyrometric cones to verify or witness the heat-work done during the ceramic firing process.
We make the Hollow Peep Hole Plug and Large Winged Peep Hole Plug, in our Seattle workshop. These handmade items are slip cast with our own Swan Porcelain Slip. They are cast in plaster molds, trimmed, and fired in-house.
The solid peep hole plugs are a mullite material, similar to hard kiln brick. We do not make them.
Always use personal protective equipment (PPE) whenever you are working near an operating or hot kiln, including while removing a peep hole plug.
