Cornwall Stone (also known as Cornish Stone or China Stone) is a partially kaolinized feldspathic rock that served as a low-iron flux in both glazes and clay bodies. Its high silica content and balanced mix of alkali and alkaline earth oxides allowed smooth melting with minimal surface tension, making it useful to reduce crawling and aid adhesion in engobes and glazes.
