50 Mesh means the materials was passed through a 50 mesh screen at the Christy Minerals factory, and this is what fit through the screen. 50 Mesh is more coarse than 100 Mesh, but finer than 35 Mesh.
Christy Grog is a calcined clay product used in ceramics to add texture, reduce shrinkage, and improve thermal shock resistance in clay bodies. It is commonly used in stoneware, sculptural clay, and hand-built pottery to create grogged textures, strengthen the body, and reduce warping during drying and firing.
