Hello. Will this fit a Shimpo VL Lite wheel as that wheelhead is 12”

1-Can you throw on both sides of the inserts and mother bat? 2-do you still need to wire off vessels?
Hello! You can only throw on one side of the mother bat and inserts. The inserts slot in from the top and wouldn't be able to get pulled out of the mother bat if it was upside down.
You do not need to wire off right away, but I would recommend wiring it off before it gets too dry. You don't need to take it off the bat though! As long as the clay is disconnected from the base you should be okay to leave it until it's stable enough to flip over.

Unfortunately we only have Mother Board's for the 6" inserts

This sits on the wheel pins and does not need to be screwed in.

Yes, this works just fine on the Shimpo VL Whisper.

I have a very old Shimpo (from the 70s) and the bat pin holes are an odd distance -- was going to drill mew ones and am worried this will allow water to penetrate the MDF..... Are they ok to drill or should I look for a bat made with a different material? Thank you.
Yes, this is ok to drill into. Just make sure to wear a dust mask/respirator when drilling into any bats.

Just making sure that this will fit the Brent C pottery wheel?
Yes, it should. The holes in the mother bat for the bat pins are placed 10 inches apart, which is the standard for most modern wheels, including the Brent C.
