Strontium Carbonate (SrCO₃) is a white powder used in ceramics as a flux in glazes and clay bodies. It lowers the melting point of glazes, encourages glossy surfaces, and can help increase opacity, making it useful for bright or opaque glaze effects. Strontium Carbonate is often used as a safer alternative to Barium Carbonate in ceramic formulations.
Strontium Carbonate can be irritating if inhaled or ingested. Always wear gloves, a dust mask or respirator, and work in a well-ventilated area.
