Who doesn’t love a speckle? We know we do. In fact, we find them so beguiling that we made a whole mid-range clay sample flight dedicated to their freckly goodness!
Our new Speckled Clay Flight includes one 12 lb. sample cube each of our top-selling Fool’s Gold, Hellborn Red, Gray Speckled, and our new introduction, Driftwood (ivory with dark flecks, and only available in this flight).
Block weight: 4 samples, each 12 lbs.
FIRING RANGE: CONE 4 - 6 (2167-2232ºF). Best Results at CONE 5
Fool’s Gold: Firing color: gold with dark speckles; texture: lightly coarse. Fool’s Gold has a rich, warm, golden brown color with black speckles… and an exemplary throwing ability. One of our all-time best sellers.
Hellborn Red: Firing color: red/orange with dark speckles; texture: slightly smooth (<5% grog). Released just last year, Hellborn Red is dark alchemy in action. It starts sunny yellow, but fires to a lush red/orange with flecks of black. Absolutely spectacular with white or blue/green glazes.
Gray Speckled: Firing color: Gray with dark speckles; texture: slightly smooth (<5% grog). Originally just a limited release, people loved it so much that we brought it back to stay. A sophisticated flecked silver fox of a clay.
Driftwood: Firing color: Ivory with dark speckles; texture: fine grit (no grog). Our newest speckled clay, Driftwood, is a flecked ivory, like the best chocolate-chip gelato. It’s so new, it’s currently only available as part of this flight. Tag us on Instagram to show us what you make with it!
Ships FREE in the U.S. via USPS in a Large Flat Rate Box.
To use: wedge wet clay, work as preferred, and fire to ∆ 5. Use with mid-range glazes.
*Please be aware that natural impurities may occasionally occur in our clay! Our clays are made with natural minerals, mined from the earth. In some rare cases, natural impurities, or ribbons of other minerals, are mixed in with the raw materials provided by our suppliers. This can lead to clays that don’t perform the way they are supposed to. If you have any questions about a particular clay body, please reach out to info@seattlepotterysupply.com.
